The Humming brand
Who is behind Humming?
Humming is a French brand owned by Maestro Équipement, a single-shareholder company (SASU) based in Lyon. It was set up by body repairers with fifteen years of workshop experience behind them. We built the range we would have wanted to have to hand.
What is the difference between Humming Refinish and Humming Equipment?
Humming Refinish covers the consumables: clear coats, hardeners, thinners, primers, fillers, masking, abrasives, surface preparation, mixing, polishing and PPE. Humming Equipment covers the machines and tools: dent repair, pulling, welding, dust-free sanding, infrared curing, induction heating and battery charging/boosting. Both ranges are ordered through the same distributors.
Have the products really been tested in the workshop?
Yes. Every product has been through the hands of body repairers in real working conditions before going into the catalogue. If a product didn't stand up to everyday use, it isn't in the range.
Why another brand, when there are already so many?
Because we wanted products that work together, stock available in France and someone to talk to who knows the trade. The clear coat, its hardener and its thinner are designed as a system, and the machines are chosen for bodyshop work, not for general use.
Where is Humming distributed?
Humming is already sold abroad through a network of distributors and is now coming to France, with stock held locally.
How do I contact Humming?
For general enquiries: contact@humming-refinish.com. To open an account or discuss distribution: distributeurs@humming-refinish.com. Tell us what your business does and which country you're in, and we'll get back to you faster.
Buying Humming / finding a distributor
Can I buy directly on the website?
No. Humming sells only through distributors and resellers. The website is there for you to check the full product specifications, then find the distributor nearest to you.
I run a bodyshop: why not sell to me directly?
Because a distributor means advice, regular deliveries and someone close by if there's a problem. We'd rather rely on that network than bypass it. Your distributor orders from us and delivers to you.
I'm a private individual. Can I buy Humming products?
Humming does not sell to private individuals. Some resellers do sell to the public: that's their choice and their own sales policy. Use the distributor search or email us at contact@humming-refinish.com and we'll point you in the right direction.
How do I find a distributor near me?
Use the 'Where to buy' page on the website. If no distributor is listed in your area yet, email contact@humming-refinish.com with your town: we'll put you in touch with the nearest one.
Are prices shown on the website?
No. Retail prices are set by each distributor. Trade prices are visible only in the distributor area, once your account has been opened.
My usual distributor doesn't stock Humming. What can I do?
Tell them about us, or send us their contact details at contact@humming-refinish.com. We'll get in touch with them to present the range.
Becoming a distributor or reseller
How do I open a distributor account?
Apply from the Distributors page or by email to distributeurs@humming-refinish.com. Attach your Kbis (French company registration extract): the account is opened once it has been checked. You then receive your login details for the distributor area.
I'm not based in France. What document should I provide?
The equivalent of the Kbis in your country, i.e. a recent extract from the trade register or companies register. If you're unsure which document is right, ask us before sending your application.
What's in the distributor area?
Your prices, available stock, your orders, your invoices and documents to download (technical data sheets, SDS, etc.). Everything you need to sell the range without waiting for an email reply.
How long does it take to open an account?
Your account is opened as soon as your Kbis, or its equivalent, has been checked. Attach it directly to the application form: a clear, recent document saves going back and forth.
I'm a reseller, not a distributor. Can I open an account?
Yes. Humming works with distributors and with trade resellers alike. The process is the same: an application to distributeurs@humming-refinish.com and a Kbis or equivalent.
Orders, delivery and stock
Where is the stock held?
In France. Orders are shipped from our stock, so you don't have to wait for a container for a standard product.
What is the delivery lead time?
The lead time is confirmed when you order. It depends on quantities, destination and, for large machines, the method of transport.
How do I place an order?
From your distributor area, where you can see your prices, your discount and available stock. You'll also find your order history and invoices there.
How do I know if a product is in stock?
Stock levels are shown in the distributor area. If you run a bodyshop, just ask your distributor: they have the same information.
Where can I find my invoices?
In your distributor area, under Invoices. They can be downloaded at any time.
Do you deliver outside France?
Yes. For orders outside France, the lead time and shipping terms are confirmed when you order.
Refinish consumables
What should I use with UHS 178 clear coat?
178 is designed to work with 301 hardener and 501 thinner. That combination is the one that has been proven in the workshop. The exact mixing ratio and thinning rate are given on the technical data sheet.
Can I mix a Humming product with a hardener or thinner from another brand?
We don't recommend it. A clear coat is formulated with its own hardener: changing one component can affect drying, gloss or long-term durability, and we can no longer guarantee the result. Stay within the Humming system.
What mixing ratio should I use?
It is given on each product's technical data sheet, by volume or by weight. For accurate mixing, use a mixing ratio ruler (MEL-103), graduated mixing cups (MEL-106) or mixing scales (MEL-115).
How long do products keep?
Shelf life depends on the product and is given on its technical data sheet. It assumes the original packaging is tightly sealed and stored in proper conditions.
How should I store clear coats, hardeners and thinners?
Somewhere dry and well ventilated, protected from frost, heat and sunlight. Close tins properly after use, especially hardeners: they react with moisture in the air and can set in the tin.
Are the products VOC compliant?
Yes. Humming refinish products comply with the regulations on volatile organic compounds. The VOC content of each product is stated on its technical data sheet and SDS.
How do I get technical data sheets and SDS?
Just ask at contact@humming-refinish.com. Distributors can also download them from their distributor area. Read the SDS before using a product for the first time.
What protection should I wear when applying 2K products?
As a minimum, suitable respiratory protection, gloves and overalls. The range includes a silicone half-mask respirator with cartridges (EPI-102), nitrile gloves (EPI-103) and an anti-static paint suit (EPI-101). Each product's SDS specifies the protection required.
Equipment
Are the machines covered by a warranty?
Yes, all Humming machines come with a warranty. The warranty period is shown on each product page or stated on the quotation.
How does after-sales service work?
Contact the distributor who sold you the machine first, with the product reference and a description of the problem (a photo or video helps a lot). You can also email contact@humming-refinish.com.
Are spare parts and consumables easy to get hold of?
Yes. Consumables and wear parts for spotters and dent repair stations (HE-A702) and for dust extraction units (HE-A703) are listed in the catalogue. You order them from your distributor, like the rest of the range.
What power supply do I need?
It depends on the machine: some run on 220-230 V single-phase, others need 380-400 V three-phase. Spotters come in a 220 V or a 380 V version. Voltage and power rating are shown on each product sheet. Check your electrical installation before ordering a large station or a high-power spotter.
Do I need training to use the machines?
Most are quick to pick up, but a spotter, an aluminium dent repair station or a MIG welder give far better results when you know how to set them up. Hands-on familiarisation sessions take place at our approved centres. Ask your distributor or contact@humming-refinish.com for details.
Can I see a machine working before I buy?
That's exactly what Humming competence centres and approved bodyshops are for: professionals come along to see and try the products. Ask us for the nearest address.
Training and the Humming network
Who runs the training?
Sessions take place at our competence centres and approved bodyshops, which use our products every day. They cover applying the products and setting up Humming machines.
How do I sign up for a training course?
Go through the Training page on the website or your distributor, or email contact@humming-refinish.com. We'll let you know the upcoming sessions and how they work.
What is a Humming-approved competence centre?
It's a workshop that works with the Humming range every day. Professionals can see and try our products there in real working conditions, and learn how to apply them.
What is a Humming-approved bodyshop?
It's a workshop that works with Humming products and welcomes other professionals to try them. For a body repairer, it's a chance to see the range in action at a fellow bodyshop.
How does a workshop become a competence centre or approved bodyshop?
They are partners chosen by Humming, in agreement with our distributors. There is no direct application: if you are a distributor or reseller, speak to your Humming contact.
